Pc-pld activity is regulated by hormones, cytokines, neurotransmitters and growth factors. Therefore, it is considered to play a role in signal transduction of various cell types. Three important lipid messengers produced by PLD play an important role in various cellular processes. These lipids also play an important role in the downstream triglyceride and phospholipid synthesis pathway. PLD is necessary for exocytosis of neurons and endocrine cells. In addition, it also plays a key role in phagocytosis. Phospholipase D is active for sphingomyelin and lysophosphatide. Phospholipase D hydrolyzes the phosphate bond between phospholipid and sphingomyelin to obtain the corresponding phospholipid acid
