Four Pegs Smokehouse and Bar on Goss Avenue in the Germantown neighborhood was hit by a car, but no one was hurt badly.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WDRB) -- A car crashed into a popular barbecue restaurant in Louisville on Sunday morning. Neighbors said enough is enough.

Every day, the owner of Four Pegs said he hears honking and screeching tires coming from the Spratt Street and Goss Avenue intersection in the Germantown Neighborhood. After Sunday's wreck, people in the area said something's got to change.

"It was just a matter of time," said Chris Williams, the owner of Four Pegs Smokehouse & Bar. "The car was definitely pretty much destroyed."

A car crashed into his popular barbecue restaurant, early Sunday morning.

In surveillance video, you can see a car trying to turn from Spratt Street and another car rushing down Goss Avenue. Then the crash occurs off camera.

"I ran up here, pulled up, and you know, just [saw] fire engines and ambulances and police; and my first thought is somebody [was] seriously injured," Williams said.

Williams said the impact of the car broke brick and shifted Four Peg's exterior by an inch.

"You can't really tell it with the naked eye but when we try to open our front door now it clips the side of the building," Williams said.

LMPD said no one was hurt badly.

"Where it happened, we have a table out front. So, if that had happened earlier, there would have been someone sitting right there and then it could have been much worse," Williams said.

Williams said they need stop lights to protect people.

"There's constant accidents in this intersection and near misses and on a daily basis. It's really just a matter of time before something much worse happens," Williams said.

Nearby residents and employees agree.

"I'm surprised I haven't seen more accidents," said Kevin Craven, who lives in the area. "I've seen so many near accidents."

Craven has a clear view of the intersection while working at Germantown Smoke and Craft.

"People don't turn with traffic - they turn against it. And I just said the speeding is ridiculous," Craven said.

He said there are too many blind spots, and he wants to see stop signs and crosswalks.

"If it was during peak hours of people walking around, someone would've been killed," Craven said. "Slow down. Be vigilant pay attention."

"Properties replaceable, human lives are not but if they don't do something, something terrible could happen," Williams said.

The restaurant was open for brunch on Sunday, but patrons had to use the side door on Spratt Street to enter.

Four Pegs will be back open on Monday for Wings Week.

"Please slow down on Goss y'all," Four Pegs posted.

According to Louisville Metro Police spokesperson Aaron Ellis, police responded to the crash around 12:30 a.m. The driver wasn't hurt, but was cited for not having registration and failure to maintain insurance.

LMPD is investigating the crash.

Earlier this summer, Four Pegs owner Chris Williams was one of 12 contestants for "BBQ Brawl with Bobby Flay."

Last summer, Four Pegs had its refrigeration trailer stolen. The trailer was later found, but around $3,000 worth of food was spoiled.
