Aug 06, 2023Where to go in Louisville: Top 5 places for chicken wings
Chris Mattingly
As we draw towards Louisville Wing Week beginning August 21st, I thought I would list five of my favorite spots for chicken wings in Louisville. Louisville is a great city for any type of wings. From breaded to hot and smoked, there is something for everyone.
Here are my top five places for wings:
Starting right off the bat is Four Pegs in Germantown. The perfect spot for award winning smoked wings. Four Pegs does well with the dry rub – the taste is off the charts. I love when you don’t have to add any sauce to the wings – that’s exactly what you get with Four Pegs. The owner Chris Williams was recently on Food Network’s “BBQ Brawl.”
Four Pegs is open 7 days a week right on Goss Avenue.
Just like Four Pegs, Momma’s Mustard, Pickles &BBQ also has award winning chicken wings. Their wings are also no sauce needed but what elevates them is the excellent house made BBQ sauce. The fried pickles also pair well with the wings – trust me.
There are two locations in Louisville – St. Matthews and Hurstbourne Parkway.

Now do not be mistaken by “fast food.” It may be called “fast food”, but Indi’s is not fast food quality. A true local to Louisville will know what I’m talking about. Indi’s has fantastic fried chicken wings with quality spices and heat to them.
Nothing better than wings and potato wedges with a pink lemonade. Indi’s has a special place in my heart.
There are several locations throughout the city.
Rubbies is a south end staple in my opinion. Some of the best smoked wings that you can find in all of the 502. Quality wings that leaves you stuffed and wanting to come back for more. The staff is top notch as well.

Closing out my top 5 is Hoops. I love going on late nights and winding down with some of the best priced quality wings in the city. The perfect wings to dunk in their house made blue cheese
Be sure to pair them with their “double dipped seasoned fries.
Louisville Wing Week runs from August 21-27. Throughout the week you can enjoy some of the best wings for only $7 at participating locations.
